Brian
collects a large quantity of his own found-sounds using his microphones
and either a laptop/sound card combo or a Marantz PMD671. These range from
recording sounds like unpeeling masking tape, birds chirping, strange
reverbs, rocks shattering, hillsides collapsing, water, fire, stove
sizzling, to traditional things such as instruments, singers, animals, and
people.
In addition to recording his own sounds, Brian spends a
large amount of time developing many of his own synth patches using
Software and Modular Synthesizers. His primary method of arrangement is
using Nuendo with a combination of recorded sound sources from the analog
and digital domains.
Brian's approach in combining all of these
interesting and unique sound textures is geared towards producing
enjoyable compositions rather than technical demonstrations.
